On Sunday, my son Phil and I went to a car show in Wantagh NY. This was a show for Buicks only. The weather was nice and there were quite a few nice classics there. This was the first car show he had attended and he was impressed with the cars. I liked the cars of the 50's and he was more into the 80's. After the show we stopped at a diner and had a nice breakfast there.
A history of the travels I make and the photos I take. I also like to take photos of interesting or humorous things I come across during the day, wherever I am. Click the PHOTO ALBUM INDEX link below to view photos in my various albums.

About Me
- Tall Photographer
- I retired from the Auto Industry in the Detroit area and now make my home in sunny Arizona. I enjoy travel and photography. Although I often think of my photography as serendipitous; I really direct myself to places where those pleasant surprises are likely to occur. When I travel I call myself the "Happy Wanderer".

Leaving Connecticut
Thursday was the drive back from the Groton CT area to Long Beach NY. The Memorial Day traffic was already beginning, luckily most of it was in the opposite direction; until we got to the NYC area where we got in the middle of both holiday and commuter traffic. Such is life in the big city.
We made a couple of nice stops along the way. We did a short walk through Yale U in New Haven. It was impressive looking at all the old buildings on campus. Then using the Trip Advisor app on the iPhone I found a nice picturesque area in Stratford called Boothe Park. This was an old private estate turned over to the city and had many interesting buildings and park area where I took a number of photos and had a nice walk. While there I had a chance to meet a new buddy--a 200 lb Newfoundland dog.

Mystic
Wednesday was sunny in Connecticut, a perfect day to visit the area around Mystic. The town was popular for ship building and of course for Mystic Pizza. The have lots of shops, an historic bridge, and the Recreated tourist town of Mystic Seaport. We did a lot of walking around taking in the history of life during the seafaring days.

Casino Visits
It was a rainy day in Connecticut which made for a good time for some indoor activity in the local casinos. There are 2 huge casinos nearby -- Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Both are complete resorts with multi casino areas, huge hotels, dining, and entertainment. They also have interesting architecture features. Both are larger than any one casino on Vegas. We had a great special on a lunch buffet and then spent the rest of the afternoon walking it off. The slots were pretty tight so we went away a little lighter in the wallet 😢😩. Oh well, it was still cheap entertainment.
